Those wishing to be included in the Harpers' International Gig
Listings, or who have additions/deletions since last Wednesday's
internet post, please forward updates to me by
DEADLINE: 12 NOON PST WEDNESDAY
for next Wednesday's internet post. Thank you.
Listings received after noon on Wednesday may or may not be
included in the weekly update to the various internet harmonica
forums at Harp-L, Harp Chat and Harp Talk. Also, listings received
after the deadline will not be available to the American Harmonica
Newsmagazine Editor until the following Wednesday (one week
later). So those desiring to be included in the AHN need to get
their listings to me by the deadline noted above, for a better chance
of making the AHN publishing deadline.
Email: bassharp@xxxxxxxxxxxxx
This list is designed for, and dedicated to, the promotion of
harmonica artists, whether soloists, band leaders, or sidemen.
With apologies to other groups, we are not able to accept
listings for groups who do not feature, or include harp players,
due to space limitations.
Due to time constraints, we are unable to access all the various
artist websites for itinerary updates, or the Pollstar listings,
and depend on each artist to submit directly to me. Please allow
me this consideration, and thank you all very much.

When Pulitzer Prize-winning composer and U-M Professor William Bolcom was
17, he began setting all 46 poems in William Blake's "Songs of Innocence
and Experience" to music. The work, which took some 25 years to complete,
calls for over 200 musicians, including a massive chorus and orchestra and
vocal soloists from the classical, operatic, and pop realms. The New York
Times called the work "a masterpiece of our time and place - gigantically
ambitious." This special celebration of the reopening of Hill Auditorium is
a collaboration between the U-M School of Music and UMS.

Harmonica Jam Camp for Blues & Country is a two-day seminar with world
renown, master player/teacher Jon Gindick that focuses on YOU.
Your Mission with Jon and Jam Camp team? Identifying your next level,
and helping you achieve it and beyond in two days of intense teaching,
learning, practice and jamming.
Jon's team of coaches:
Larry "The Iceman" Eisenberg, one of the harmonica world's most renown
teachers.
Allen Radcliffe-Holmes, one of the county's most exciting jazz diatonic
harp players, and an inspirational, inventive harmonica teacher.
Joe Filisko, one of the most respected respected harmonica teacher/
players./customizers in the world.
Dennis Gruenling, one of the most respected and influential harp
players today.
When you arrive Friday night or Saturday morning, you will play for
Jon, get feedback, evaluation, and also tell us what you¹re looking for
in the
seminar. (this can also be done by phone, prior.) Together we will discuss
your goals and problems, and identify your next level and the learning
techniques that will get you there. Then, with Jon and other musicians,
we will jam until it¹s time to go to bed, or they throw us out.
On Saturday and Sunday, we will spend focused, repetitive,
skill-developing time in exercises and practice circles. As each day
goes on,
there will be three or four classes on different topics, each relevant
to players
at all levels. We will study and practice tone, embouchure, articulation,
hands, tongue-blocking, I-IV-V chord progressions, chugging, jamming
theory,
cross harp melody, cross harp riffs, position playing 1-6 plus 12, the harp
player as singer, how to learn, how to teach, how to set up a band,
amplification, learn to play songs line by line, and you will jam, jam, jam.
Want an idea of what it looks like? Go to
http://www.gindick.com/thumbBrowser.aspx
Notice how every body has a harp in their mouth.
A word of warning: Jon plays harmonica and guitar at the same time and
teaches in jam circles. In a jam circle, we go around the room, each
playing with Jon and his guitar. We play as a group. We play solos. We
create
rhythms. We sing. We become musical. If you are closet player, this is
your time to ³come on out² in a supportive, structured environment. We have
several meeting rooms in which we can separate and yet still be together.
To assure sanity and attention, the enrollment is limited to thirty-five
people. It will be stimulating, but structured so you can hear yourself
think and play. This inexpensive harmonica jam camp experience is about
YOU and the joy of jamming.
